Finally, the last of the Mane 6!

Twilight is made of Minky and her eyes and cutie marks are machine embroidered.

eebharas, I recently purchased some materials to make Twilight myself, but I don't have really anything to go off of. Where did you find patterns to make this? And how did you do the eyes and cutie mark so well? This is amazingly done, you did such a good job.

I'm so glad you like her! But I make all of my patterns and eye and cutie mark designs myself...So I didn't get them anywhere. And I have an embroidery machine for my eyes and cuties, which most don't have at their disposal. :iconvalleyviolet: sells a lovely pattern for the body, and :iconethepony: sells embroidered eyes and cutie marks (At beyond resonable rates, I might add. Only slightly more than the cost of materials! I'm not sure how long the wait period is right now, though), if you want to still have the embroidery and you don't have an embroidery machine. There are many people who do some beautiful applique with satin fabric and the zig zag stitch on their machine, it really can look just as good as embroidery. :iconwhiteheather: is a good example of this.

Unfortunately I don't know of anyone that sells a pattern for the mane and tail...I go by trial and error, to be honest. Twilight's mane is one of the more difficult ones for me, just because she has those striped straight bangs. I'm not entirely pleased with the ones in this picture so I'm reworking my bangs pattern right now, and even after doing so many ponies, it's frustrating for me.

Thank you, that does help a little. The mane/tail didn't seem to be too much of a worry, it looked simple enough. My only question on that is, well, did you stuff the mane at all or is it literally just two fabrics sewn together? And about how long does each one take you? It'd be nice to know a general timeframe of how long I'd be working on this. I'm only just starting to do this, I'm only 15, and I saw so many good ones out there and thought I might as well attempt to make one, and if it turns out good, maybe I'll make more.

It's not two fabrics sewn together, but I didn't stuff it. I use something in between the two fabrics that's called fleece, but is not what pops into your head when you think of fleece. It's not a woven fabric. You can find it next to the interfacing in most craft stores. Each pony takes me about 20 hours total. Some take me more, some take me less. This one took me more, because stripes take awhile to sew together. That's not including time spent making patterns. I don't think age really matters in this, to be honest. I'm only 18. :) Good luck!:D
