Rainbow Dash 3 by eebharas Rainbow Dash 3 by eebharas
*****FOR SALE AGAIN: [link] *****

I've been trying really hard to make this plushie as show accurate as possible. I made an entirely new mane and tail pattern, as well as a new head pattern, new eye designs, and a couple small changes to my open wings. I really think these changes paid off in this plushie.

Hoo boy, congratulations on the bid so far! That's phenomenal!
My wallet, however, needs some therapy after seeing that.

Well it's not my auction so no congratulations are due. :)I am rather impressed though at how close it has gotten to the price it went for when I sold it to the person who is selling it now!

Wait, a resale by the person you sold it to? What they didn't like it or...?

All I know about the situation is that they had "unforseen expenses" but it was a friend of a friend who bought it and it was my understanding that he was very pleased with his purchase, just sometimes things come up that are more important than ponies. :)

Yeah that's actually a fairly low price for the higher-end pony plush, but I won't pretend they aren't expensive! If you get more enjoyment out of a trip though you should absolutely choose that option!:)

The price is because the amount of work involved. Even with ponies that I already have patterns for, all the sewing and cutting and embroidering and hand sewing and stuffing can take 20+ hours, and I've heard many other plush artists say it takes them about the same amount of time, and the supplies needed don't come cheap either! I know that from the perspective of a person who doesn't make them, all they see is a finished product, but they don't materialize, and that's why they're so expensive to buy.

i understand all that as i used to do textiles myself in my old school it just disapoints me thats all cause why would anyone pay that much for a toy then there is more importent stuff to use money on like my example of seeing a friend. and just so you know buddy is that im not trying to be nasty or gain any sypathy or anything i just want to try and show my views cause most other plushie makers just ignore anything that i say and you are atleast being nice and listening u_u.

but yeah like i said i totally understand the amount of hard work that goes into to this stuff (im an artest so i know how much work goes into drawing especially if your like me and get sudden dark and down perihods)

The people who buy them see them as display pieces and something more like "huggable art" than like toys. The word toy devalues them a lot, I think, because a toy is something you give to a child to rip apart and play with in the tub and kick around outside. Art is something you value highly and display proudly and are willing to pay a lot of money for, especially since they can't be produced exactly the same way twice. And as far as I'm concerned, money is money. It's there to spend and if you keep it all hoarded up waiting for something truly worthy to come along then in the end you're going to have a lot of money and not a whole lot to show for it. It could be said that a trip isn't worth the money either, because after the trip's over, you don't have money or a trip. If hand made plushies make people happy enough to buy them, then people should buy them. If a trip is worth it to you, then you should buy it. Honestly, people paid hundreds of dollars for TWINKIES when it looked like there wouldn't be any more, and that's just a nasty snack cake, but if it makes them happy, more power to them.

I want to clarify that I'm not attacking you or anything, I just firmly believe we should be paying out artists what their time is worth. (By USA standards, at least $7.50 an hour (minimum wage) plus materials or more for skilled work) In many instances, artists get paid grossly less than what they deserve because people qualify what they do as a "hobby" or qualify what they make as a "toy" or think that they deserve less money because "they get to have fun while they do it" and that just doesn't make sense.

Anyway, I don't think the other plush makers were being rude by not responding to you, honestly I get so many comments half the time I get freaked out by the sheer volume and take weeks to answer any that are by people I haven't spoken to before, sometimes I take weeks to answer any at all. It's kind of difficult to think of unique things to say so people don't feel like I'm copy-pasting the same message over and over, so I definitely get where other plush makers are coming from with only answering a few comments.

Your plushies always look so great! I had a question though. I have been wanting to put some kind of marking on the bottom of the foot of mine to show that I did make it and was wondering if you do it with all of yours and if anyone every had a problem with that?

I do it with all of my plushies except one I believe I forgot it on, and nobody has had a real issue with it. I had one person who was concerned about it until they recieved it, and then they didn't mind.

Well I don't want her hair to be flat, so how many sides am I stitching? Is it the two side pieces (with all of the colors stitched together of course) and a piece underneath to give it dimension?

:iconeebharas:
eebharas Featured By Owner Dec 1, 2012  Student Artisan Crafter
Well yeah, basically. I mean, you have to divide each of those pieces into stripes for each color, but the most basic of it is that it's two sides connected to a gusset on the bottom. The hardest part about it is making it not too tall.

To each their own, I guess...But this is my art. I worked for hours and hours on her, and I don't really want to know if that stuff's gonna happen to her once she's out of my posession. I certainly don't want to purposely indulge that intention. I'm glad you understand. :)

I'm so glad you like her! Have you gotten corners to turn out the way you want?

Yeah.. sometimes I'm afraid that could happen to my Plushies.. because sometimes you just never know who you're selling them to.. ._. And yes, I think I'm getting the hang of it c: I haven't been sewing with 3D manes too much right now though. But I did practice cutting the corners of fabric :)

I think it's best just to assume they'll take good care of your work, and if they don't, you'll never find out anyway. :) Awesome! Glad to hear you're practicing. I'm sure when you start making 3d manes they'll come out great. :)
